Gender inequalities in care and consequences on the labour market

Gender inequalities in unpaid care are acknowledged to be the ‘missing link’ in the analysis of gender gaps in labour market participation, quality of employment and, particularly, pay. Women’s disproportional burden of unpaid care work affects and hinders their participation in the labour market in several ways.
