In recent years, the Social Development Division of the Economic and Social Commission for Western Asia (ESCWA) has focused on advancing the social justice agenda by providing knowledge and capacity development tools on mainstreaming the principles of equality and social justice in national development policies and programmes, and developing workable solutions and policy recommendations to promote youth participation in decision-making processes. The present policy brief contributes to those objectives. It addresses selected dimensions of inequality among Arab young people, and highlights the gaps and challenges that affect youth policy development and implementation. It concludes with a set of key messages to assist Arab Governments in their efforts to invest in young people, and enable them to reach their full potential.
