Challenges in Writing the Report:
The writing of the report faced numerous challenges, some of which were related to the armed conflict in Sudan since April 2023 and the subsequent displacement, homelessness, and violations against civilians, as well as the destruction of institutions and civil society organizations, and the loss of most documents and references related to the work. Among the challenges faced in writing the report were the difficulty of obtaining data and statistics and the difficulty of obtaining information provided by official bodies due to the lack of data and logistical capabilities, and the weakness and occasional interruption of communication networks within Sudan. The displacement and asylum movement led to the dispersion of experts on women’s and gender issues, and the lack of knowledge of their locations, making it difficult to find information and contact information at times. Furthermore, the difficulty of working in some countries of asylum was compounded by laws that may prevent or hinder the gathering of experts and consultative committees in those countries.
