“The Secretary-General’s annual reports on women, peace and security have warned of stagnation and decline in various key indicators related to women, peace and security in recent years. One of the main factors undermining progress is the rising backlash against women’s rights and gender equality. Those working on the front lines of crisis response, including women’s human rights defenders and civil society organizations, are often attacked.”
