UAE National Report on Progress Made in Implementing the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action 30 Years Later:
“The United Arab Emirates is committed to implementing the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action at the national level. This commitment is reflected in the country’s efforts and achievements in promoting and protecting women’s rights and empowering them at all political, economic, social, and cultural levels.
The United Arab Emirates participated, along with other countries, in the Political Declaration adopted by the Commission on the Status of Women at its 64th session in March 2020, in which member states pledged to enhance all possible efforts to fully implement the Declaration, the most comprehensive global plan for gender equality and the empowerment of women. The General Women’s Union believes in its established role as the national mechanism that leads and sponsors the process of women’s empowerment through diligent and persistent work with all relevant stakeholders to reduce the gender gap. This is reflected in the country’s global competitiveness in this field and in the most pivotal sectors for any country’s progress, namely health, education, the economy, and politics. This underscores the importance of the national policy for women’s empowerment.
