The present report, as mandated in Economic and Social Council resolution 2018/8, serves as a review and appraisal of the implementation of the Beijing Declaration and Platform for Action and the outcomes of the twenty-third special session of the General Assembly. It covers challenges with regard to the achievement of gender equality and the empowerment of women and the part they can play in the implementation of the 2030 Agenda for Sustainable Development.
